At OML, we deliver a specialist rehabilitation service for individuals with neurological conditions.
Conditions that commonly benefit from physiotherapy:
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Cerebral Palsy
- Traumatic Brain Injury
We strive to utilise the latest evidence base to inform our practice.
What can we offer?
- When you attend neurophysiotherapy, you will receive an individual assessment and the best course will be discussed.
- Everyone is different and conditions can vary, so we design each programme to your needs.
- During this assessment, we will talk through the treatment and the number of sessions you will need.
Working as an individual and in a group, can be part of your programme.
There are many benefits to doing this:
- As an individual, you can benefit from a personalised approach; and
- In a group, you work with others who may be experiencing similar difficulties.
Individual or group exercise can benefit from functional activities such as walking and daily tasks which can enhance your general wellbeing.
Some of our specialist skills include:
Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)
We are the National FES Centre for the United Kingdom. Our clinical staff work in the FES clinic assessing and treating patients with FES to help with:
- Upper limb function; and
- Spasticity management.
We also conduct research and have a product development team.
The technique involves electrical stimulation to produce contractions in various paralysed muscles. It is used for drop foot, shoulder subluxation and spasticity management.
PD Warrior is an exercise-based intervention to help people with Parkinson’s Disease. The aim of PD Warrior is to help you take a positive step towards living with Parkinson’s.
It aims to improve your general fitness as well as being designed specifically to help improve your quality of life and confidence in movement.
If you are newly diagnosed, or in stage 1 or 2, contact our clinical team because this programme could really benefit you.
The programme involves a combination of individual and group circuits.

Intensive arm rehabilitation
We can help reduce pain associated with shoulder subluxation. We understand that people can feel self-conscious that their elbow and hand are bent whilst walking, so we have designed treatments to help with this problem.
We personalise treatment and tailor advice to your level of arm activity. Through individual exercise plans, we can provide intensive rehabilitation that works for you.
Constrained Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT)
We have designed a mitten, called C-MIT, which is a comfortable and safe method of delivering constrained induced movement therapy. By restricting the use of unaffected arm, you are forced to use your affected arm which can enhance motor recovery. Read more about C-MIT.
Pilates can be incorporated into a treatment programme in order to improve core stability which can aid everyday function and help to reduce back or neck pain.
Our clinical team uses a holistic approach to improve problems associated with abnormal muscle activity (stiffness, spasms). This includes:
- Electrical stimulation;
- Splinting; and
