PD Warrior™

This is a physiotherapy led exercise approach that incorporates the benefits of high effort exercise and behaviour change into an early intervention strategy for people who have Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease. The PD Warrior programme is aimed at people who are newly diagnosed and within the early stages of Parkinson’s.

The key is to treat early before problems such as falling and freezing occur.

The programme utilises intensive, amplitude based and multi-tasking training strategies, which latest evidence shows to be effective.

PD WarriorTM can help with:

  • Confidence in movement
  • Quality of life
  • Self-efficacy

It can address:

  • Tremor
  • Bradykinesia
  • Dysmetria
  • Rigidity

The PD WarriorTM Programme has been developed by specialist physiotherapists in Sydney, Australia. We are fortunate to be able to deliver this programme here in Salisbury.

We offer two class options. PD Warrior classes are for more able people who are early stages of Parkinson’s. Salisbury Striders caters for less able people who may have more advanced Parkinson’s.

You can also learn more at www.pdwarrior.com

Our Classes

Class Location Format Duration Cost
PD WarriorTM Salisbury Clinic One to one 1 hour £80 (then £40 for additional ½ hour)
PD WarriorTM Salisbury Clinic Group 1 hour £12
PD WarriorTM Online Group 1 hour £5

If you have Parkinson’s Disease and are motivated to take on a proactive, high intensity exercise programme we would be happy to assess you to see if the PD Warrior programme would be suitable.

If you feel that the PD Warrior Programme isn’t for you, but you are still interested in exercise for Parkinson’s we are able to create a personalised exercise programme for you to continue with at home. We also run a Striders class. This is a slightly lower intensity, slower paced class, based on the principles of PD Warrior.

Please note before anyone can join a class, we require individuals to attend two or three one to one appointments where we can complete an assessment, teach them about the principles of PD Warrior and at that point determine their suitability for the classes.

To join the classes or find out more please contact 01722 439 561 or email pdwarrior@odstockmedical.com.
