Healthcare professional referral or self-referral – Lower limb FES for walking assistance
Assessment clinic
- Sustainability of FES determined (please note FES is not suitable for all those with relevant conditions)
Set up 2 clinic appointments
- Teach the use of the device
- Take outcome measures
Adult
Follow up at 3,8, 16 and 24 weeks and then annually for as long as FES is used.
Child
Follow up at 6, 18 and 25 weeks and then twice a year for as long as FES is used.
The sequence and timing of appointments may be varied depending on the patient’s requirements

Set up: 1 clinic appointments
Teach the use of the device
Take outcome measures
Follow up at 2, 8, 16 and 24 weeks. FES treatment is then withdrawn for 1 month. If the patient’s condition is maintained then FES treatment is complete.

Assessment clinics
2 appointments separated by 6 weeks. The device is used daily at home.
Follow up at 3, 6 months and then yearly for as long as FES is used.
