Join us for OML’s FES session by Paul Taylor (Clinical Director and OML Co-Founder)
Day 1 – 25th March 2026 at 2.05-2.30pm at the Innovation Hub
Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) – enabling mobility and upper limb function.
FES has become a standard intervention in neurological rehabilitation and is supported by many National Clinical Guidelines including NICE, RCP and ACPIN. This session will review the clinical application of FES and its evidence for improving walking following MS, stroke, spinal cord injury and Parkinson’s. We will discuss new developments and techniques to adapted FES to suit the needs of a diverse range of patient presentation, including multi-channel applications. We will introduce the new triggered upper limb functional training device for stroke and SCI, and give an update of the progress of the STEPS II project, the multi-centre randomised controlled trial for the use of FES in Parkinson’s.
